1שלא נעלה לרגל בלא קרבן - שלא נעלה לבית הבחירה ברגל בלא קרבן שנקריב שם, והוא הקרבן שפרשנו למעלה בסדר זה (מצוה תפט), שנקרא עולת ראיה, ועל זה נאמר (דברים טז טז) ולא יראה את פני יי ריקם, פרוש פני כמו לפני, ושם כתבתי משרשי המצוה וכל ענינה. וזאת האזהרה אינה נוהגת בנקבות, כמו שמצות עשה הבאה על זה, אינה נוהגת בהן.
To not go up for the festival without a sacrifice: To not go up to the Choice House on the festival without a sacrifice that we will offer there — and that is the sacrifice that we explained above in this Order (Sefer HaChinukh 489), that is called the burnt-offering of being seen. And about this is it stated (Deuteronomy 16:16), “and they shall not appear empty before the face of the Lord.” The understanding of “face (pnei)” is like “in front of (lifnei).” And there I wrote from the roots of the commandment and all of its content. And this warning (negative commandment) is not practiced by females, [just] like the positive commandment that comes upon this is not practiced by females.
